Bieg Motyli 2025: Poznań Runs Together Spreading Kindness

On September 14, Poznań will gather at Lake Malta for Bieg Motyli 2025. This special run is not about speed or competition, but about coming together as a community to support Hospicjum Palium. With a 5.4 km route open to runners, walkers, and families, the event shows that helping others can be both simple and joyful.

What is Bieg Motyli 2025?

Bieg Motyli 2025 is the eighth edition of Poznań’s annual Butterfly Run, a 5.4 km route around Lake Malta designed for everyone—no matter their age, condition, or pace. Participants can run, jog, walk, or roll along the scenic path. While children on scooters and participants using wheelchairs are especially encouraged, the event is truly open to all.

Organizers stress that this is not just about breaking records, but about celebrating community and solidarity. Whether you’re a competitive runner or a family looking for a Sunday stroll, Bieg Motyli 2025 welcomes you. Alongside the main race, attractions and entertainment will be available for children and adults alike, creating a festive atmosphere by the lake.

How to Join

To take part in Bieg Motyli 2025, participants must register online through the official event website and pay the entry fee (80/90 PLN). The fee also serves as a donation to Hospicjum Palium, turning each ticket into direct support for patients and their families. On the race day, participants should check in at the competition office near the Malta Regatta Course (ul. Wiankowa) with a valid ID.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest participants, but the true reward is knowing that every step taken at Bieg Motyli 2025helps improve the lives of those in palliative care.

From a School Project to Bieg Motyli 2025

The journey toward Bieg Motyli 2025 started in 2018, when students from Poznań’s IX Liceum Ogólnokształcące created the Butterfly Run as part of the “Zwolnieni z Teorii” (Released from Theory) competition. What began as a student project quickly evolved into a citywide tradition.

By 2019, participation had doubled and raised over 14,000 PLN. Even the pandemic in 2020 couldn’t stop the initiative—organizers adapted with a virtual run that successfully funded six anti-bedsore mattresses for the hospice. When the event returned to Malta Lake in 2021, 700 participants raised 27,500 PLN for rehabilitation beds.

By 2023, nearly 1,500 people joined, cementing the Butterfly Run as one of the largest charity events in Poznań. Now, Bieg Motyli 2025 is set to be bigger than ever, bringing together even more runners, walkers, and supporters.

Hospicjum Palium

The Symbol of the Butterfly

The butterfly is at the heart of Bieg Motyli 2025. The story dates back to 2010, when a patient named Renata stayed at Hospicjum Palium. During her treatment, she painted and distributed butterflies, leaving behind a moving request:

When I’m gone, do something with the butterflies to help the hospice.

Since then, butterflies have become the symbol of hope, change, and solidarity. For volunteers, they represent transforming life’s challenges into strength and empathy. For participants of Bieg Motyli 2025, the butterfly is a reminder that small actions—like running or walking a few kilometers—can lead to big transformations in the lives of patients.

Why Bieg Motyli 2025 Matters

Hospicjum Palium, located in os. Rusa, is Poznań’s largest palliative care center, with 39 beds and home care for around 160 patients. Its mission is not only to provide medical assistance but also to create a sense of home, dignity, and compassion for patients and their families. The funds raised by Bieg Motyli 2025 help finance specialized equipment, additional caregivers, and support programs for families, including orphaned children.

The event is co-funded by the City of Poznań and held under the patronage of the Wielkopolska Voivode, the Marshal of the Greater Poland Region, and the Mayor of Poznań. Yet the true strength of Bieg Motyli 2025 lies in the commitment of its participants, who turn a sporting event into an annual act of solidarity.

Let’s Run Together at Bieg Motyli 2025

Bieg Motyli 2025 is above all a friendly meeting by Lake Malta. It’s a chance to move a little, spend time with others, and do something good at the same time. Whether you run fast, walk slowly, or push a stroller, your presence makes a difference. Every person who takes part helps Hospicjum Palium continue its important work for patients and their families.
