As summer descends upon us, it’s the perfect time to explore the myriad of activities offered by Poznańskie Ośrodki Sportu i Rekreacji (POSiR). With an impressive array of free or nearly free options available for children and youth, POSiR has something for everyone.
Free Fun for Kids and Teens
This summer, POSiR has pulled out all the stops to ensure that the youngest members of the community have a blast. Children and teenagers up to the age of 17 can take part in various exciting activities, including trips, kayaking excursions, and access to sports facilities such as indoor and outdoor pools and bowling alleys. These activities often come with the guidance of an instructor, ensuring a safe and engaging experience. Parents or guardians must accompany their children, creating an opportunity for family bonding through shared adventures.
We’ve seen how these recreational opportunities captivate our young residents and their families over the years. I’m confident that this summer will be filled with thrilling moments on the rivers of Wielkopolska, in fascinating locations, and at our sports facilities. We’re also introducing new family fitness and aqua aerobics classes.
Says Łukasz Miadziołko, Director of POSiR.
Engaging Senior Activities
Not forgetting the older generation, POSiR has also introduced new activities for residents aged 60 and above. This summer, seniors can join Nordic walking sessions, held at Malta and Golęcin. These sessions, which seniors can attend with their grandchildren, promise a healthy and enjoyable way to stay active. Registration is required, and all necessary information can be found on the POSiR website. Other activities in the “Seniors in Action” series include bridge, dancing, chess, aerobics, board games, and art classes with grandchildren, all for a nominal fee of just 1 złoty.
Concerts on the Waves
Adding to the summer’s allure are the free #NaFalach concerts which you can find in POSiR’s summer calendar. These musical events are a delightful way to enjoy warm evenings with friends and family, blending culture with the charm of the season.
Multisport Day Camps
For parents looking to keep their children engaged while they work, POSiR’s multisport day camps are an excellent option. These camps, designed for children aged 7-12, offer a structured and fun environment from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. With activities ranging from team sports to swimming and bowling, each day is packed with excitement. Kids will also enjoy a variety of additional activities such as visits to the cinema, roller-skating, and exploring the ropes course at Pyrland Park.
The camps run weekly throughout July and August, with fees varying based on residency and family status. Discounts are available for Poznań residents and families with multiple children. Registration details are available via email or in person at the Youth Sports Centre.
Unforgettable Trips and Kayaking Adventures
This summer, POSiR is also organising a series of trips to fascinating destinations in the region. From the Wild West charm of Silverado City to the exotic animals of ZOO Safari Borysew, these trips promise unforgettable memories. Each child can participate in one free trip, making it an affordable way to explore new places.
Kayaking enthusiasts will be thrilled with the scheduled excursions on the picturesque rivers of Wielkopolska. Whether you’re paddling along the Wełna or the Warta, these trips offer a unique perspective of the region’s natural beauty. The scheduled kayaking trips are as follows:
- 29 June 2024: Wełna River, Ruda to Jaracz, approximately 12 km
- 6 July 2024: Puszcza Zielonka Canoe Trail, Tuczno to Złotniczki, approximately 8 km
- 3 August 2024: Gwda River, Ptusza to Krępsko, approximately 13 km

Participation is free, but pre-registration is required.
A Splash of Aqua Fun
For those who prefer staying close to home, POSiR offers free access to its summer and indoor pools for children and teenagers. New this year are aqua aerobics and fitness classes, providing a refreshing way to stay fit and healthy. Registration is necessary, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The Importance of Sport
Engaging in sports is more than just a way to pass the time; it’s a vital part of a healthy lifestyle. Regular physical activity helps children develop strong muscles and bones, improves cardiovascular health, and boosts mental well-being. Participating in sports also teaches valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. This summer, POSiR’s diverse offerings provide the perfect opportunity to fill your child’s free time with meaningful and beneficial activities, setting them up for a lifetime of healthy habits.
POSiR’s summer programme is a testament to Poznań’s commitment to fostering an active, healthy community. With something for everyone, from thrilling adventures for kids to enriching activities for seniors, there’s no excuse to stay indoors.
