This Saturday, 5th April 2025, the scenic trails around Lake Malta in Poznań will come alive with the enthusiastic barks and eager strides of canines and their human companions during the much-anticipated second edition of Dogtrekking Wuchta Łap. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Polana Harcerza, this event promises a day filled with adventure, bonding, and community spirit.
Understanding Dogtrekking
Dogtrekking is an outdoor activity where individuals hike or trek alongside their dogs, navigating through diverse terrains. It’s not merely about physical exercise; it’s an opportunity to strengthen the bond between humans and their four-legged friends. Participants traverse marked trails, often encountering tasks that challenge both their navigation skills and teamwork. This inclusive sport welcomes individuals of all ages and fitness levels, and dogs of every breed and size.
The Mission Behind Wuchta Łap
Organised by the Fundacja Edukacja i Integracja Pokoleń (Foundation for Education and Integration of Generations), Dogtrekking Wuchta Łap aims to promote physical activity, intergenerational bonding, and responsible pet ownership. The inaugural event received an overwhelmingly positive response, setting the stage for this eagerly awaited sequel.
To ensure everyone feels ready and welcomed, participants receive a generous starter pack including a detailed map with checkpoints, a personalised participant card (returned at the finish), fun event-themed gadgets for both human and pup, and an electronic timing chip in the bib. Along the trail, there’s a snack station with fresh fruit, biscuits, and water. Kejter route participants also get a post-race recovery meal—meat or vegetarian. Professional veterinary care is available throughout, and all finishers receive a commemorative medal and diploma.
- Maltańczyk: A 5-kilometre trail ideal for beginners and families with young children.
- Kejter: A more challenging 10-kilometre route tailored for those seeking a greater adventure.
Both trails meander through the serene forest paths encircling Lake Malta, offering not only a physical challenge but also a feast for the senses. Along the way, participants will encounter light-hearted tasks designed to entertain without causing stress, emphasising collaboration and a cheerful spirit.

A Community Celebration
The festivities extend beyond the trekking experience. Post-event, Polana Harcerza will transform into a vibrant hub of activities:
- Family Picnic: Engage in a variety of attractions, from children’s animations to partner stalls showcasing pet-related products and services.
- Culinary Delights: Relish a communal meal, perfect for replenishing energy and sharing stories from the trail.
- Award Ceremony: Celebrate the achievements of participants in a warm and inclusive environment.
This gathering offers ample opportunities for relaxation and socialisation, fostering connections among dog lovers and the broader community.
