Kompania Piwowarska’s Groundbreaking Investment

Kompania Piwowarska has recently embarked on its largest logistics investment to date, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history. This grand project, involving the construction of a state-of-the-art high-bay warehouse at their Poznań brewery, represents a strategic move to consolidate and enhance their distribution network. With a planned area of 12,000 square metres and an impressive height of 40 metres, the warehouse will house up to 40,000 pallets, making it a pivotal addition to the company’s operations.

About Kompania Piwowarska

Kompania Piwowarska is a cornerstone of the Polish beer industry, with a rich history and a diverse portfolio that has earned the loyalty of beer enthusiasts across the country. Founded in 1999 through the merger of several historic breweries, the company is now the leading beer producer in Poland, boasting a market share of over 36%.

Their flagship brands include some of the most beloved beers in Poland, such as Tyskie, Lech, and Żubr, each offering a unique taste that caters to different palates. In addition to these popular choices, Kompania Piwowarska also produces a range of specialty beers under the Książęce brand, as well as international favourites like Pilsner Urquell and Kozel.

They have also embraced the growing trend of non-alcoholic and flavoured beers, with offerings like Lech Free 0.0% and Tyskie 0.0% becoming increasingly popular. As part of the Asahi Europe & International group, Kompania Piwowarska combines centuries-old brewing traditions with modern innovation, making them a leader not only in Poland but across Europe.

Project Overview

The new warehouse is set to become one of the most advanced logistics facilities in Poland. Scheduled for completion in 2026, the warehouse will triple the current storage capacity of the Poznań brewery from 20,000 to 60,000 pallets. This massive expansion means that the facility will be capable of holding the equivalent of 1,350 fully loaded trucks, translating to around 60 million cans of beer.

Efficiency Meets Innovation

Designed with cutting-edge technology, the new facility will feature a fully automated system capable of handling up to 368 pallets per hour in the production area and preparing 572 pallets per hour in the distribution zone. This level of automation is expected to streamline the entire logistics process, ensuring faster and more efficient operations.

A Step Towards Sustainability

In addition to its operational advantages, the new warehouse also promises significant environmental benefits. By reducing the need for satellite warehouses and consolidating the distribution network, Kompania Piwowarska expects to cut down on transport-related CO₂ emissions by over 2,300 tonnes annually. This aligns with the company’s broader sustainability goals, which include reducing their carbon footprint by 30% by 2030.

Collaboration and Construction

The construction of this warehouse is a collaborative effort, with PORR S.A. serving as the general contractor and APP-Projekt S.A. managing the project. The facility will feature 12 aisles and 15 storage levels, capable of holding pallets weighing up to one tonne each. The building will also include a loading hall with 18 docks, as well as accompanying infrastructure such as sanitary and office facilities, an electrical substation, and a fire protection system.

Building this warehouse is an exceptional undertaking for us. We are combining our experience in executing complex construction projects with advanced technology. We are confident that together we will create a facility that will not only be efficient but also become a showcase of innovation in the industry.

Strategic Significance

For Kompania Piwowarska, this investment is not just about expanding their physical infrastructure; it’s a strategic move to solidify their position as a leader in the Polish beer market. The new warehouse will enable the company to increase direct deliveries from the brewery to customers, potentially boosting direct deliveries from the current 50% to an impressive 90%. This shift will not only reduce reliance on external storage facilities but also improve the overall efficiency of the supply chain.

A Vision of Growth and Sustainability

Kompania Piwowarska’s new warehouse in Poznań represents a bold step forward in logistics and sustainability. With its focus on innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, this investment underscores the company’s commitment to growth and market leadership. As the project progresses, it will undoubtedly become a cornerstone of Kompania Piwowarska’s operations, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient future in the brewing industry.
