Matchday Guide: Lech Poznań vs. Zagłębie Lubin & City Travel Tips

On Sunday, 23 February, at 17:30, the football heart of Poznań will be beating at full force as Lech Poznań takes on Zagłębie Lubin in a crucial Ekstraklasa clash at the Enea Stadion. As thousands of fans gear up to support their teams, the city’s transport network is also preparing for the influx of passionate supporters. Whether you’re a Lech fan hoping for another home victory or a Zagłębie supporter making the trip to Poznań, getting to the stadium efficiently is just as important as the game itself.

The Match: What’s at Stake?

Lech Poznań, currently leading the Ekstraklasa table, have been one of the standout teams this season. Under the guidance of Niels Frederiksen, they have displayed a powerful attacking force, averaging 2.5 goals per home match. Star striker Mikael Ishak has already netted 12 goals, while Afonso Sousa has added another 8, making them a dynamic duo in the league.

However, despite their dominance, Lech have shown some weaknesses in recent weeks. Two losses in their last four games, including a narrow 0-1 defeat to Raków Częstochowa, have left some fans anxious. Will they bounce back in front of their home crowd?

On the other side, Zagłębie Lubin find themselves battling to avoid relegation. Sitting 14th in the league, they are in desperate need of points. Coach Mariusz Włodarski has struggled to find a winning formula, and their leaky defence (32 goals conceded in 21 matches) has been a major issue. With only 6 wins this season, they enter the match as clear underdogs, but the unpredictability of football means surprises are always possible.

Getting to Enea Stadion with Public Transport

Poznań is expecting thousands of fans to flood the streets, and the city’s transport system has been adjusted to ensure smooth travel for supporters.

If you want to avoid traffic and parking struggles, public transport is free for ticket holders on matchday. Thanks to a partnership between ZTM Poznań and Lech Poznań, anyone with a valid match ticket or season pass can ride buses and trams free of charge, starting three hours before kick-off and continuing two hours after the final whistle.

Several key tram and bus lines have been strengthened to handle the increased demand:

  • Tram lines 1, 6, 13, and 15 will run extra services before and after the match.
  • Bus lines 145, 163, 191, and 193 will use larger buses before the game and operate additional routes after the match.

With these reinforcements, reaching ul. Bułgarska, where Enea Stadion is located, should be smooth and efficient.

Driving to the Match? Plan Ahead!

For those who must drive, be aware that several streets around the stadium will be closed from 16:00. Roads affected include:

  • Ul. Bułgarska (partial closure)
  • Ul. Grunwaldzka (restricted access)
  • Ul. Jugosłowiańska (limited entry)

Expect traffic diversions and delays, especially in the hour leading up to kick-off. Police and city officials will be present to manage congestion and ensure safety.

If you’re driving, official parking areas are available, but they fill up quickly. The best options include:

  • Stadium Parking (ul. Ptasia) – 800 spots, 15 zł/match
  • Ul. Smoluchowskiego – 100 spots, 10 zł/match
  • Business Garden (ul. Kolorowa) – 100 spots, 2 zł/hour
  • Pixel Poznań (ul. Grunwaldzka) – 100 spots, 2.50 zł/first hour, 4 zł after
  • MTP Parking (ul. Głogowska) – 650 spots, 7 zł/hour

For those looking to park for free, the Cmentarna/Grunwaldzka lot (2.4 km from the stadium) is a good option, with trams running directly to the venue.

Expect a Spectacle

With Lech Poznań leading the league and Zagłębie Lubin fighting for survival, this Ekstraklasa match promises an electric atmosphere. The home crowd at Enea Stadion is known for its passionate support, and with thousands of fans in attendance, expect chants, banners, and a sea of blue and white in the stands.

Lech’s recent home form makes them favourites, but Zagłębie will be desperate for an upset. A win for Lech would strengthen their title bid, while a victory for Zagłębie could pull them further away from relegation danger.
