Piknik na FEST! 2024: Music, History, and Big Stars in Greater Poland

This June, Poznań and Kalisz will host the highly anticipated Piknik na FEST! 2024, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Poland’s membership in the European Union. The event promises a mix of music, history, and fun activities for all ages, making it a must-attend festival for the whole family.

Star-Studded Line-Up

This year’s Piknik na FEST! will feature performances by top Polish music acts, including Karaś/Rogucki, LemON, Sorry Boys, and Fisz Emade Tworzywo. The festivities in Poznań will kick off at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, at Park Cytadela, with the first musical act taking the stage at 5:20 PM. The Kalisz event will follow on Saturday, June 29, at Pola Marsowe, starting at the same time.

Piknik na FEST! 2023: Meet the Artists

Sorry Boys: This alternative rock band is known for its captivating melodies and poetic lyrics. Formed in 2006, they have released several acclaimed albums and are beloved for their energetic live performances.

Karaś/Rogucki: This duo blends indie rock with electronic music, creating a unique and modern sound. Both members, Kuba Karaś and Piotr Rogucki, are prominent figures in the Polish music scene with successful solo careers before their collaboration.

LemON: A band that masterfully combines pop and rock, LemON was formed by Igor Herbut in 2011. They quickly gained popularity with their powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics, becoming one of Poland’s favourite music acts.

Fisz Emade Tworzywo: This hip-hop and alternative band, fronted by brothers Fisz and Emade, is known for their innovative approach to music. Their albums often explore complex social themes, and they have a dedicated fan base.

Celebrating 20 Years in the EU

The central theme of this year’s events is Poland’s 20-year membership in the European Union. The anniversary marks two decades of peace, economic development, and integration with Europe. Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Greater Poland region, invites everyone to celebrate this significant milestone, reflecting on the benefits and progress achieved since joining the EU.

Activities and Attractions

The heart of the festival will be the “Miasteczko Samorządowe,” where visitors can learn about the activities of the regional government and participate in various attractions. This area will highlight investments in the economy, transport, health, education, sports, culture, and environmental protection.

In the European Zone, attendees can explore EU-funded programs and projects in Greater Poland. Activities include workshops on recognising European flags, foreign language lessons, and the “Guess Where I’m From?” contest. Health services such as consultations with specialists, RTG, USG, eye exams, blood pressure and sugar level measurements, and visits to the mammobus (a mobile unit providing mammography services) and onkobus (onkobus is a mobile unit offering oncological consultations) will be available.

Engaging Workshops and Activities

The festival offers a wide range of workshops and activities for all ages:

  • Environmental Awareness: Recycling and zero waste workshops.
  • Astronomy: Sky observation sessions.
  • Crafting: Wreath-making and rocket-building workshops for kids.
  • Sports: Competitions in judo, rowing, cycling, fencing, and skimboarding as part of the Greater Poland Olympics.

For children, there will be games, bouncy castles, soap bubbles, face painting, and butterfly counting. Experienced animators will ensure the youngest visitors have a great time.

Safety and Sustainability

The event will feature displays from the uniformed services, including European police cars, collision simulators, and hydrogen-powered cars, promoting safety and eco-awareness. Cyclists are encouraged to ride to the event, with a bicycle marking station available for added security.

Historical Highlights and Culinary Delights

Attendees can also delve into local history with information about the construction of the new Greater Poland Uprising Museum and traditional Greater Poland costumes. The event will celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage and achievements over the past 20 years.
