Tram passengers travelling through central Poznań will have to allow for another week of works around Rondo Kaponiera and Most Teatralny.
Repairs to the tramway between Rondo Kaponiera and Most Teatralny, including the section towards ul. Dąbrowskiego, are now scheduled to finish on 2 October. The work has taken longer than originally planned after additional repairs were found to be necessary.
The ongoing project includes the replacement of platform kerbs and tram points. Contractors are also restoring telecommunications ducting and repairing damaged paving on the cycle route.
These additional jobs have extended the timetable by around a week.
Further track work planned from 3 October
Once the current phase is complete, repair crews will move to another part of the interchange, on the ul. Fredry side of Most Teatralny.
From 3 October, the planned work will include the replacement of points and associated track components. Details of the works and any changes to tram services will be announced separately by the city's public transport authorities ahead of the start date.
For passengers, that means another change to the pattern of works around one of Poznań's busiest tram interchanges, although the details of the temporary transport arrangements have not yet been announced.
Separate emergency repairs near Most św. Rocha
The Kaponiera works are taking place alongside an unrelated emergency repair further east in the city.
On ul. Dowbora-Muśnickiego, a section of tram track was found to have a cracked track slab. According to the authorities, an investigation established that the underlying cause was the washing out of the slab's supporting base.
Emergency repairs began on 22 September. As the work prevents trams from using the route across Most św. Rocha, the section between the Kórnicka interchange and ul. Podgórna has been closed to tram traffic.
Temporary changes to public transport services have been introduced while the repair is carried out. Passengers should check the latest information from ZTM Poznań and MPK Poznań before travelling.
