This summer don’t forget to participate in silent cinema at Kino Muza, located at Św. Marcin 30 in Poznań, which has been an enduring landmark in the city since its inception in 1908. As one of the oldest cinemas in Europe, it has witnessed the evolution of film and cinema culture, undergoing numerous transformations while maintaining its charm and significance.
About Kino Muza
Originally opened as Theater Apollo, Kino Muza has undergone several name changes over the decades. In 1910, it became Colosseum, and in 1934 it was renamed Europa. A year later, it was called Świt, and during World War II, it operated as Zentral Lichtspiele. Post-war, it adopted the name Wolność before finally becoming Muza in the 1950s. This historical journey reflects not only the changing times but also the cinema’s adaptability and resilience.
Since 2008, Kino Muza has been managed by Estrada Poznańska, a cultural and entertainment institution that has been active in Greater Poland for 65 years. The cinema is a crucial cultural hub, part of the Network of Studio and Local Cinemas, as well as the Europa Cinemas programme.
In 2019, Kino Muza underwent extensive renovations, transforming into a modern three-screen cinema with state-of-the-art projection standards. The new interiors pay homage to the cinema’s rich history, with each screening room retaining its unique character. The space is fully accessible to people with disabilities. During the summer, the rooftop terrace hosts open-air silent cinema screenings using headphones, adding a unique experience for moviegoers.
Summer Silent Cinema
The much-anticipated summer season at Kino Muza is back! From July to August, enjoy evening screenings in the silent cinema format on the terrace. Equipped with headphones, viewers can experience some of the best films of the season under the open sky.
Silent cinema is a unique way to watch films, combining the outdoor ambience with high-quality audio delivered through headphones. This format allows viewers to immerse themselves in the film while enjoying the natural surroundings, free from external noise distractions. The terrace setting provides a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, making each screening a special event.
Cafe Muza
Cafe Muza has been part of Kino Muza since August 2013. With the 2019 renovation, it gained an additional bar upstairs and a spacious terrace. It’s a perfect spot to linger in the world of film before returning to reality. Beyond movie times, the new Cafe Muza is a place for spontaneous meetings over coffee, craft beer, or delicious pastries from the local bakery Ciuciu Paj.
