Poznań Turns Down the Volume: Silent Disco and Silent Cinema Promise Unforgettable Summer Nights

Two of Poznań’s most unique experiences this summer don’t rely on loud speakers to bring the energy. Instead, they put the power of sound in your hands — or rather, on your ears. With the silent disco and the atmospheric silent cinema rooftop screenings, the city is offering a season of dancing, movies, and memorable nights under the stars — all through wireless headphones.

Summer 2025: Silent Cinema in Poznań

At Kino Muza, the silent cinema series is back in full swing. Starting August 1, the cinema’s rooftop transforms into an open-air movie theater — with a twist. Each guest receives a pair of high-quality wireless headphones, offering crystal-clear sound while tuning out the city’s bustle.

This format encourages focus, creates an almost meditative atmosphere, and allows each viewer to truly immerse themselves in the film. Even better, if the weather turns against the event, screenings are moved indoors to Kino Muza’s Room 3, so the show always goes on.

August: Strong Women Take the Screen

This year’s August program celebrates powerful, complex female characters — from warriors and rebels to everyday heroines. The lineup mixes animation, indie hits, thrillers, and international cinema.

Schedule:

  • Princess Mononoke, dir. Hayao Miyazaki – Aug 1
  • The Balconettes, dir. Noémie Merlant – Aug 2
  • Love Lies Bleeding, dir. Rose Glass – Aug 8
  • Humanist Vampire Seeking Suicidal Person, dir. Ariane Louis-Seize – Aug 9
  • Diva Futura, dir. Giulia Steigerwal – Aug 15
  • The Last Expedition, dir. Eliza Kubarska – Aug 16
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, dir. Hayao Miyazaki – Aug 22
  • Wicked Little Letters, dir. Thea Sharrock – Aug 23
  • Babygirl, dir. Halina Reijn – Aug 29
  • There’s Still Tomorrow, dir. Paola Cortellesi – Aug 30

September: Cult Thrillers and Dance-Ready Concert Films

In September, silent cinema in Kino Muza shifts into darker, bolder territory with a series of classic thrillers and horror films. From Andrzej Żuławski’s surreal Possession to the legendary Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it’s a must for lovers of edge-of-your-seat cinema. Also on the calendar: concert films like Stop Making Sense where dancing is very much encouraged — headphones and all.

Schedule:

  • Kneecap – Sep 5
  • Possession – Sep 6
  • Stop Making Sense – Sep 12
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre – Sep 13
  • Holy Spider – Sep 19
  • Oldboy – Sep 20
  • It Comes at Night – Sep 26
  • Gingerdead Man – Sep 27

Tickets cost just 16 zł and include headphone rental. Capacity is limited, so booking in advance through Kino Muza’s website is recommended.

Summer 2025: Silent Disco in Poznań

If you’re looking for high-energy fun with a twist, silent disco is where the city comes alive in quiet. Every Friday and Saturday night from 22:00, Plac Wolności becomes an open-air dancefloor powered by cutting-edge wireless headphones.

Schedule:

  • August: 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30
  • September: 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27

Each participant gets their own headset, allowing them to tune into multiple DJ channels — usually at least three — all broadcasting live in real time. You choose your vibe, control your volume, and switch styles whenever you want. It’s your party, your soundtrack. The event is built around joy, freedom, and connection. Expect dancing, friendly crowds, great drinks, and a safe, inclusive vibe.

How it works:

  • Bring a photo ID or 200 zł cash for a refundable headphone deposit
  • Early-bird tickets online: 15 zł (released Mondays at 15:00)
  • Regular online tickets: 25 zł
  • At the door: 40 zł (subject to availability)
  • In case of rain, the event is cancelled and your money refunded

Silence Has Never Been So Fun

Whether you’re a film lover craving a rooftop screening in the heart of the city or a night owl searching for the best parties, Poznań’s summer proves that silence can be thrilling. Silent disco and silent cinema offer two sides of the same coin: immersive, modern, headphone-powered experiences that connect people in creative ways. So this season, skip the noise — and tune in to something better.
