Discover the major renovation project at Poznań’s Enea Stadium, including a comprehensive cleaning of its iconic roof and structural improvements.
A Fresh Look for Poznań’s Football Heartbeat
Enea Stadium, the pride of Poznań and the home of football giant Lech Poznań, is set for a significant facelift. Announced on May 13, 2024, the stadium is undergoing a critical renovation phase focusing on its iconic membrane roof covering the main spectator areas. This modernization aims not only to preserve the structure’s aesthetic and functional integrity but also to enhance the overall fan experience.
Revamping the Roof
The main highlight of this renovation is the comprehensive cleaning of nearly 50,000 square metres of the stadium’s roofing above stands I, II, and III. Utilising a manufacturer-recommended cleaning agent, the process will address both the external and internal surfaces of the membrane. The operation, demanding precision and safety due to the heights involved, is expected to span two months, conditional on favourable weather.
Special care is being taken to protect the water retention tanks that collect water for irrigating the pitch, ensuring that no detergents seep into this crucial system. Alongside the membrane works, the stadium will see repairs to the concrete casings of columns in the mentioned stands, highlighting a dual focus on aesthetics and structural safety.
Strategic Stages and Expectations
The project is structured in two phases: the initial creation of project documentation followed by the physical renovation works. Poznań’s Sports and Recreation Centers (POSiR) have approved the plans, setting the stage for timely execution.
If everything goes according to plan and the weather permits, all work should be completed before the resumption of the Ekstraklasa football league,
says Łukasz Miadziołko, director of POSiR.
With a budget of 748,000 PLN net, this investment underscores the city’s commitment to maintaining its sports infrastructure at peak standards.
The ongoing renovations at Enea Stadium reflect the club’s forward-looking philosophy, striving to provide the best for its fans while honouring its storied past. As the stadium shapes up to welcome back its fans and players, it stands as a beacon of sportsmanship and community pride, ready to host the next chapter of thrilling football matches in Poznań.
