Poznań’s summer streets are alive with more than sunshine. With over thirty free events including concerts, outdoor cinema, theatre, workshops, and poetic walks, the new cultural series Estrada w Centrum turns the historic squares of the city into a living stage. Discover how this artistic initiative by Estrada Poznańska invites the public to rediscover Poznań’s most iconic spaces through a fresh, creative lens.
Art That Breaths With the City
This summer, Poznań becomes a city not just to walk through—but to feel, listen to, and co-create. Estrada w Centrum, a new initiative launched by Estrada Poznańska, is transforming the very centre of Poznań into an open cultural salon. From June 1 to August 31, three of the city’s most cherished urban locations—Stary Rynek, Plac Wolności, and Plac Kolegiacki—will host a varied lineup of artistic events.
The idea behind the project is to make culture accessible to everyone, but it doesn’t stop there. The deeper purpose is to help us experience familiar places differently—through sound, emotion, motion, and artistic expression. The series is built around experience, both in terms of its curated programming and the physical relationship between audiences and the cityscape.
Music Across Borders and Styles
The musical program of Estrada w Centrum takes audiences on a sonic journey across genres and continents. Expect evenings filled with trance, experimental, and ethno-influenced music, featuring artists from Poland and abroad. Highlights include the Italian psychedelic band Julie’s Haircut, Brazilian experimentalists Oruã, the energetic duo Ninos du Brasil from Argentina, and respected Polish acts like Młyn, Ńoko, and BLED.
These performances have been selected not just for entertainment, but to create a unique ambiance—sometimes reflective, sometimes hypnotic, and often danceable. This is not about mainstream hits, but rather immersive, emotionally charged musical experiences that resonate with the setting of Poznań’s historic architecture and open sky.
Music Events Include:
- June 1: Concerts by T’ien Lai and Ninos du Brasil at Plac Kolegiacki and Stary Rynek.
- June 15: Pop artist Dominik Dudek performs during Local Girls Movement LocalFest.
- July 7: Electro-acoustic performances by Młyn and ŃOKO at Pasaż Quadro.
- July 17: Experimental music night with Dynasonic and BLED at Stary Rynek.
- July 31: Live sets by Oruã (Brazil) and Julie’s Haircut (Italy) at Plac Wolności.
- August 29: Psychedelic-trance concerts by Upupayāma and La Forasteria on Plac Wolności.

Theatre Under the Sky and Beneath the Surface
Theatre is another central pillar of the program, bringing raw, contemporary themes to life through live performance. Rather than sticking to traditional narratives, the theatrical offerings challenge viewers to engage with the complexity of human psychology and modern identity. Audiences can expect performances like Kosmiczna Podróż Guliwera, inspired by Jonathan Swift, or intimate and innovative shows such as jaWa, Kamuflaż, and Very Sad that explore identity, transformation, and adaptation in today’s world.
These productions are staged not in enclosed buildings but in the very streets and squares of Poznań, turning the city itself into part of the performance and inviting passersby to pause, engage, and reflect.
Theatre Events Include:
- July 16: “Kamuflaż” by Teatr 21 on Plac Wolności.
- July 30: “Very Sad,” a poignant performative theatre piece in open public space.
- August 19: “jaWa,” a bold and symbolic performance exploring identity.
- August 27: “Kosmiczna Podróż Guliwera,” a puppet spectacle for all ages inspired by the iconic literary voyage.

Cinema Beyond Convention
For those who enjoy cinematic evenings, Estrada w Centrum also includes a series of open-air film screenings. But this isn’t a typical summer cinema. The selections—ranging from cult classics like Miloš Forman’s Hair and Dennis Hopper’s Easy Rider to contemporary titles like Titane and Everything Everywhere All at Once—invite viewers to reconsider themes of freedom, identity, and non-conformity.
Watching these films in the heart of the city offers a special kind of magic—sharing a moment with strangers, beneath the stars, surrounded by Poznań’s architectural grandeur. It’s a celebration of collective experience and the power of storytelling.
Cinema Events Include:
- July 22: Hair (1979), a rock musical celebrating rebellion and free spirit.
- July 29: Titane (2021), a provocative and genre-bending cinematic experience.
- August 20: Easy Rider (1969), the road movie that redefined counterculture.
- August 27: Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), an award-winning multiverse epic that blends absurdity with emotional depth.

Workshops, Walks, and Artistic Encounters
Beyond stage and screen, Estrada w Centrum also offers interactive experiences. There are poetic walks through the city, photography workshops, and drawing clubs, encouraging active participation rather than passive spectating. Many of these activities are suitable for families and children, while others target those seeking deeper artistic engagement.
One especially charming aspect is the use of public space not just as a venue, but as a co-creator. Events like performative walks and site-specific installations invite the public to reflect on their relationship with the city—and with each other.
Workshops and Artistic Events Include:
- June 1: “W ogonku” drawing workshop and the sensory art installation “Organizm Uważności.”
- June 5–6: Audio-visual city walk “Miejska Dżungla” curated by Antropologów Kultury.
- June 7–8: Poetic-performative city walks by Osesi Kolektyw; drawing workshop “Złamana Kredeczka” and analog photography sessions led by Beata Zięba-Ziętek.
- June 15: “Niezamknięcie” art fair for children and the family zone at LocalFest.
- June 16 & 19: Singing workshops and final choral performance of the project “Pieśni Kobiet.”
- Ongoing through summer: Artistic actions, street performances, and participatory art experiences scattered across the city’s central squares.

A City of Culture, a Summer of Discovery
Estrada w Centrum is not a typical summer festival. It’s a multidimensional invitation: to enjoy, to question, to participate, and most of all—to rediscover. By placing art at the heart of public space and offering it freely to anyone willing to stop and look or listen, the program blurs the lines between city and stage, resident and audience, art and everyday life.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through Poznań this summer, there’s something quietly powerful about standing in a familiar square and seeing it transformed by music, movement, or film. In a world that often moves too fast, Estrada w Centrum offers a pause—a chance to reconnect with the soul of the city and the stories we all share.
