All Aboard the Green Express: Koleje Wielkopolskie Unveils New Wagon in Partnership with Warta Poznań

For years, Koleje Wielkopolskie has been deeply involved in supporting various local initiatives, with a special focus on sports. The partnership with Warta Poznań has been particularly fruitful, fostering strong bonds and contributing to the development of the club’s football section.

With the onset of 2024, this collaboration has reached a new level, with Koleje Wielkopolskie becoming the official partner of Warta Poznań’s Academy. This strategic move reflects Koleje Wielkopolskie’s long-standing mission to support the local community and promote sporting values.

Warta Poznań: A Legacy of Excellence

Warta Poznań, the city’s oldest football club and one of the oldest in the country, boasts a rich history dating back to 1912. With two Polish championship titles and a legacy of representing Poland in international competitions, Warta Poznań holds a special place in the hearts of football enthusiasts. Beyond its on-field achievements, the club is committed to social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Koleje Wielkopolskie: Connecting Communities

As for Koleje Wielkopolskie, the regional railway operator is on a mission to provide efficient, safe, and environmentally-friendly passenger transport services across the Wielkopolska Region. The introduction of the green-themed wagon is just one example of the company’s innovative approach to meeting the needs of local communities while promoting sustainable travel options.

A Memorable Launch Event

The launch event, scheduled for March 28, 2024, at Poznań’s Dworzec Letni (Summer Station), was a truly memorable affair. Among the dignitaries attending were Wojciech Jankowiak, the Wicemarszałek of the Wielkopolska Region, representatives from Warta Poznań, and the management of Koleje Wielkopolskie. But among them were also devoted fans of the Warta Poznań Club, wearing iconic green and white scarfs and t-shirts.

Introducing “Warciarz”: The Green-Painted Wagon

The unveiling of the new train wagon, aptly named “Warciarz” in homage to the club Warta Poznań, marks a significant milestone in this partnership. Adorned in the iconic green and white colours of Warta Poznań, both on the exterior and interior – with the most comfortable green seats, the wagon proudly displays the club’s logo, symbolising the unity between sports and public transportation.

Wicemarszałek Wojciech Jankowiak lauds the collaborative efforts between Koleje Wielkopolskie and Warta Poznań as a mutually beneficial endeavour. He humorously reassures that partnering with Warta does not make Koleje adversaries of Lech, injecting a lighthearted tone into his remarks.

On the other hand, board member Mikołaj Grzyb elaborates on the versatility of the new “Warciarz” wagon, noting its availability not only for transporting fans to Grodzisk for matches but also for daily commutes to Wągrowiec and Wolsztyn. Grzyb underscores the wagon’s accessibility and convenience for all interested passengers along these routes, extending its utility beyond match days. With its eye-catching design, the “Warciarz” embodies the spirit of partnership between Koleje Wielkopolskie and Warta Poznań, offering passengers a unique and memorable travel experience.
