Atlantis Swimming Pool in Poznań Celebrates 20th Birthday

Poznań’s Atlantis Municipal Swimming Pool is marking its 20th anniversary with a weekend of special events, discounted admission and a look back at two decades of swimming and leisure on the city’s Piątkowo estate.

To mark the anniversary on 17th and 18th October, Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres (POSiR) has arranged activities for visitors, including an unusual cinema screening in the pool hall and an evening of retro aqua dance. According to POSiR, Atlantis welcomes around 200,000 visitors each year, making it an established part of the local leisure scene.

A look back at 20 years of Atlantis

Visitors will be able to explore the swimming pool’s history through a photographic exhibition in the entrance hall, showing how the facility has changed since it first opened.

Marcin Gołek, Poznań’s Deputy Mayor, said:

Since the beginning of its operation, Atlantis swimming pool has been full of life. Around 200,000 people visit it every year. I hope this popularity will not diminish, as we are taking care to ensure that, despite its age, the swimming pool remains modern. The sauna area has recently undergone a transformation, and POSiR is planning further modernisation of the facility in the near future.

The planned improvements reflect the continuing role of public swimming pools in providing accessible opportunities for exercise and relaxation for Poznań residents.

Cinema in the pool: Jaws on the big screen

On Saturday, 17th October, Atlantis will host a screening of Steven Spielberg’s classic thriller Jaws. Rather than taking their seats in a conventional cinema, audiences will settle into comfortable chairs floating on the water inside the pool hall.

The screening begins at 6.30 pm, with tickets priced at PLN 25. Places are limited, and advance registration is required.

Retro Aqua Dance

Sunday evening brings a different kind of entertainment. Starting at 7 pm on 18th October, Retro Aqua Dance will invite participants into the water for a session set to popular hits from the past 20 years.

DJ Gregory will provide the music, while instructor Bartek leads the choreography. Tickets cost PLN 25, and places are limited.

Bookings for both events can be made at the swimming pool’s ticket office or by telephone on 510 914 249.

Birthday offers across the weekend

Visitors who prefer a more traditional swim can also take advantage of anniversary offers throughout Saturday and Sunday, 17 - 18 October.

The price of a standard single-entry swimming ticket will be reduced by 20%, while the permitted stay will increase from one hour to two.

There is also an offer for sauna enthusiasts: a 75-minute visit covering both the swimming pool and sauna area will be available at the standard swimming pool admission price.

The anniversary offers an opportunity to revisit a familiar neighbourhood facility, whether for a swim, a sauna session or one of the special evening events.
