Independent cinema lovers in Poznań have plenty to look forward to this July as Kino Muza unveils a varied programme of special screenings, restored classics, music documentaries and the return of its popular Silent Cinema evenings.

Mother Mary Special Screening

Anne Hathaway takes on one of her most unexpected roles in Mother Mary, appearing alongside Hunter Schafer and FKA twigs in a film that blends psychological thriller, musical spectacle and intimate drama.

Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides Returns in Restored 4K

Sofia Coppola’s celebrated directorial debut returns to Polish cinemas in a beautifully restored 4K edition.
Featuring cinematography by Ed Lachman and an iconic soundtrack by French duo Air, The Virgin Suicides remains one of the defining coming-of-age films of modern cinema. Set during the 1970s, the story recalls the enigmatic Lisbon sisters through the memories of an unnamed narrator, capturing themes of adolescence, longing and mystery that continue to resonate twenty-five years after its original release.

Charli XCX: Alone Together

Music and documentary fans can experience Charli XCX: Alone Together, an intimate look at creativity during the Covid-19 pandemic.
As the world entered lockdown in spring 2020, Charli XCX challenged herself to write and record a new album in just forty days. Through Instagram, she invited her fans, known as the Angels, to help shape the project by contributing lyrics, artwork and creative ideas. The documentary follows both the artist’s creative process and the personal experiences of five fans from around the world during an extraordinary period of global isolation.
Silent Cinema Returns to the Kino Muza Terrace
From 17 July
With longer evenings and warmer weather, Kino Muza’s popular Silent Cinema returns for another summer season on the terrace.
Every Friday and Saturday evening, visitors will be provided with wireless headphones and blankets, creating a unique outdoor cinema experience under the stars.
July’s programme explores the theme of “Oppressive Heat”, featuring atmospheric films including:
- Picnic at Hanging Rock
- Climax
- Sirât
- Father Mother Sister Brother
In August, the programme shifts to the theme of “(Slow) Freedom”, presenting films that encourage audiences to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy reflective, intimate storytelling with moments of humour.
The terrace screenings have become one of Poznań’s most distinctive summer cinema experiences, offering an alternative way to enjoy acclaimed films in the heart of the city.
Federico Fellini Retrospective Arrives at Kino Muza
From 21 July
Kino Muza will also join cinemas across Poland in hosting “Federico Fellini: Ciao a Tutti!”, a nationwide retrospective organised by the Association of Arthouse Cinemas.
The season will feature six restored 4K classics by one of Europe’s most influential filmmakers, giving audiences the opportunity to experience Fellini’s visionary cinema on the big screen.
The retrospective continues this summer’s cinematic journey through Italy and celebrates the enduring influence of the legendary director, whose work continues to inspire new generations of filmmakers and audiences alike.
