In less than two weeks, the much-loved riverside space KontenerART opens its doors for another season—and Poznań’s cultural calendar instantly gets a whole lot more exciting. Set to kick off on Friday, 25 April, the 2025 KontenerART opening brings music, workshops, cold drinks and beach vibes right to the heart of the city.
A Place That’s Always in Motion
KontenerART doesn’t need much introduction for most locals. It’s one of those places you stumble into once and keep returning to. Located in a quiet bend of the Warta River, just a short walk from the city centre, this open-air venue built out of repurposed shipping containers offers a blend of music, art, food, and unpretentious fun.
The organisers describe the space simply and it really does feel like that:
It’s more than just a place – it’s a space where everyone can feel comfortable, meet amazing people from around the world, and spend time in a creative atmosphere.
Originally started as a grassroots initiative by local artists and cultural organisers, the idea was simple: use mobile architecture to create a flexible, affordable, and community-focused creative space. The first containers arrived in the late 2000s, and since then, the concept has grown year by year—while keeping its DIY soul.
The location changes from time to time, but the vibe stays the same: casual, collaborative, and full of things to discover.
KontenerART Opening Weekend: What to Expect
This year’s KontenerART opening will take place on 25 April. Within minutes of the gates opening, the space is expected to fill with regulars and newcomers alike. There will be jam sessions and laid-back concerts as the sun dips behind the trees, while the bar starts serving the first beers of the season. Beach chairs are likely to disappear quickly on the sandy stretch near the water, as groups settle in for the afternoon with snacks from the food court.
This season, visitors can expect:
- Live concerts and jam sessions from local artists
- Creative workshops open to everyone—no experience needed
- Dance nights (salsa is on the menu again)
- Art installations and open-air exhibitions
- A sandy beach with loungers and chilled drinks
- Street food and surprises in the food court and game zone
The organisers are keeping some details under wraps, teasing on Facebook:
This year’s opening will bring a few surprises—both in the food court and at the Game & Fun Beach!
It’s not a one-day thing either—KontenerART stays open from 12:00 to 2:00 through the season.

Not Just Parties: Art, Workshops and Community
Beyond the music and social buzz, KontenerART has always maintained a strong artistic backbone. Weekly workshops invite guests to try their hand at things like silkscreen printing or ceramics. Exhibitions by young artists pop up throughout the season, and small film screenings often happen once the sky darkens.
The space also hosts larger events and festivals. This season also brings the return of Voice of Poznań, an open vocal competition with live performances on the KontenerART stage. The contest unfolds over ten Fridays, and this year includes a “Dogrywka” wildcard round on 11 July. The big finale takes place on 26 July, with prizes up to 3,000 zł for the winners.
Even if you’re not competing, the atmosphere during these Friday night shows is electric. It’s a perfect mix of local talent, spontaneous dancing, and riverside celebration.

No Plans? Now You Do
If you’re looking for a reason to spend more time outdoors, meet new people, or just enjoy music with a view, the KontenerART opening might be your new favourite date in April. It’s Poznań at its most relaxed and creative—easy-going, lively, and full of small surprises.
There’s no single reason people come here: some for the music, some for the workshops, many just to grab a drink and watch the sunset over the river. But whatever draws you in, odds are you’ll stay longer than planned.
