The final weekend of September brings the 2026 season of several of Poznań’s most distinctive heritage transport services to a close. Maltanka will make its last scheduled journeys on Sunday, 27 September, while the city’s historic tourist tram and bus lines will also operate for the final weekend of the regular season.
There is still time to make one last trip before the summer timetable disappears. And for vintage transport enthusiasts, the final weekend offers a particularly varied selection of historic vehicles.
Last rides on the Maltanka railway
Maltanka will run until Sunday, 27 September, giving visitors one final chance this year to travel on the narrow-gauge railway alongside Lake Malta.
Operating since 1972, the Park Railway Maltanka was created specifically for passenger tourism. Today, it provides a useful link towards attractions including Termy Maltańskie and the New Zoo, but the journey itself remains one of its main attractions.
The railway uses a 600 mm gauge, making it one of the very few railways of this type still operating in Poland. For families, visitors and railway enthusiasts, a ride on Maltanka has become a familiar part of a day around Lake Malta.
Until the end of the season, services operate every day. On weekdays, trains run hourly, while Saturday and Sunday services operate every 30 minutes between 10:00 and 18:00.
The final scheduled Maltanka services of 2026 will run on Sunday, 27 September.
Historic trams and buses take their final regular runs
The same weekend also marks the end of the regular 2026 season for Poznań's tourist lines.
On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, visitors can still travel on tram lines H, 0 and 20, as well as bus lines 100 and 102. The tram services will run at an increased frequency, with departures every 30 minutes.
This year's tourist transport has attracted particularly strong interest. ZTM reports that by the end of August, almost 35,000 passengers had used the services, around 10,000 more than during the same period in 2025.
One of the attractions this year has been the opportunity to see historic vehicles visiting from outside Poznań, including trams made available by MPK SA in Kraków and Tramwaje Warszawskie. The final weekend continues that theme.

One more date for the diary: 45 years of Ikarus in Poznań
Although the regular tourist-line season ends on 27 September, historic vehicles will not disappear from Poznań's streets just yet.
The city is preparing special services on 3 and 4 October to mark 45 years since Ikarus buses were introduced into Poznań's public transport fleet.
Ikaruses from MPK Poznań and its partners will operate on tourist lines 82 and 85, providing another opportunity to see and ride some of the city's best-known historic buses.
For anyone who has missed the regular tourist season, these October services offer a final chance to catch a heritage vehicle in service before attention turns towards the winter timetable.
