Drivers parking in Łazarz and Wilda will soon find it easier to pay for parking as Poznań begins upgrading hundreds of parking meters with modern touchscreen technology and improved payment options.
A total of 375 parking meters across the two districts are being modernised as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to simplify the Municipal Paid Parking Zone. Once completed, the devices will operate in the same way as parking meters already used in many other parts of Poznań, creating a more consistent experience for residents and visitors alike.
Touchscreens Replace Traditional Keyboards
One of the most noticeable changes will be the removal of the physical keypad. The upgraded machines will instead feature large touchscreen displays designed to make navigation more intuitive.
The new interface is expected to be particularly useful for drivers using Poznań’s dual-tariff parking system. Clear on-screen icons will help users select the correct tariff more easily, reducing confusion during the payment process.
By standardising the software and layout across the city, motorists will no longer need to learn different systems depending on where they park.
More Ways to Pay
Following the upgrade, all 375 parking meters will support payments by bank card and BLIK, reflecting the growing preference for cashless transactions.
For those who still prefer paying with cash, this option will remain available at 75 selected parking meters, ensuring that traditional payment methods continue to be available where needed.
According to ZDM Poznań (City Roads Administration), city data shows that cashless payments have become the preferred choice for most drivers, making the investment a response to changing user habits while still catering for everyone.
New Features Bring More Flexibility
The modernised parking meters will introduce several functions that have not previously been available in Łazarz and Wilda.
One of the most significant additions is a Start-Stop parking option. Similar to parking apps, this feature allows motorists to pay only for the actual time their vehicle is parked.
To use it, drivers pay using a payment card and enter their vehicle registration number. The parking meter securely associates the card with the registration, allowing users to return later and end the parking session directly at the machine. Charges are then calculated based on the actual duration of the stay.
Drivers will also be able to request their parking ticket by email, providing a convenient digital alternative to a printed receipt.
