Live music, military displays, American cars, family attractions and a spectacular laser and pyrotechnic finale await visitors at one of Poznań’s biggest outdoor summer events.
Poznań is set to host one of the largest celebrations of Polish-American friendship in the country as thousands of visitors will gather at Poznań-Ławica Airport on Thursday, 3rd of July, to mark the 250th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States.
Organised by the United States Armed Forces in Poland in partnership with Estrada Poznań and the City of Poznań, the event promises an afternoon and evening packed with live entertainment, family activities, cultural experiences and spectacular performances, all set against the unique backdrop of aircraft taking off and landing at one of Poland’s busiest airports.
Open to residents and visitors of all ages, the celebration offers a rare opportunity to experience American culture, military traditions and live music while celebrating the longstanding friendship between Poland and the United States.
A Celebration of Friendship
The event is more than an Independence Day celebration. It is also a symbol of the close relationship that has developed between Poznań and the American community based in the city.
US military personnel stationed at Camp Kościuszko, together with their families and other American residents, have become an important part of Poznań’s international community. The event aims to bring people together through music, culture and shared experiences in an open and welcoming environment.
Speaking ahead of the celebration, Jadwiga Troczyńska, Deputy Director of Estrada Poznańska, highlighted that Americans have become part of everyday life in Poznań and that the city was proud to join in celebrating this important milestone alongside them.
Why Is American Independence Day Celebrated?
Independence Day, celebrated annually on the 4th of July, commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, when the thirteen American colonies formally declared their independence from Great Britain. The declaration marked the birth of the United States as an independent nation and laid the foundations for the country’s democratic ideals of liberty, equality and self-governance.
Today, Independence Day is one of the most important public holidays in the United States. It is traditionally marked with parades, concerts, family gatherings, fireworks and community celebrations across the country. The event in Poznań brings a taste of those celebrations to Poland while also highlighting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the United States and Poland.
A Star-Studded Line-Up
Music will take centre stage throughout the afternoon and evening, with performances from both Polish and international artists.
The programme begins with Poznań’s own Groove Cover, followed by the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army, one of the country’s most distinguished military artistic groups, renowned for combining music, dance and patriotic traditions.
International visitors can also look forward to performances by Sara James, one of Poland’s most recognisable young vocalists, Cassadee Pope, the Grammy-nominated American singer-songwriter and winner of the third season of The Voice US, who will perform in Poland for the first time, and American pop-rock band American Authors, best known worldwide for their hit song Best Day of My Life.

Against the backdrop of Poznań-Ławica Airport, it promises to be one of the city’s most distinctive summer spectacles.
Getting There
To help visitors travel easily, organisers are encouraging the use of public transport.
Your event ticket includes free travel on public transport within zones A, B, C and D during the event period, making buses and trams one of the easiest ways to reach Ławica.
A special Bus 106 will operate at frequent intervals between Ogrody and the event site before the celebrations, with extended services to Rondo Kaponiera after the concert finishes to help visitors return to the city centre.
Those travelling by car can use the designated paid parking area at Hipodrom Wola, from where shuttle transport will operate to the venue.
Tickets
Tickets cost 10 PLN, while children under the age of three can attend free of charge.
Tickets are available online via ToBilet.pl or can be purchased on-site using cash or card. Mobile tickets are accepted, so there is no need to print your booking in advance.
Know Before You Go
To ensure everyone’s safety, security checks will be in place at the entrance.
Visitors are asked not to bring:
- Glass bottles or containers
- Cans
- Sharp objects
- Fireworks or flammable materials
- Laser pointers
- Drones
- Personal alcohol
Small bags (up to approximately A4 size) and one bottle of water up to 500ml are permitted.
A large food and drink zone will be open throughout the event, serving refreshments until late evening.
