Poznań will once again bring together local government representatives, researchers and climate specialists for the Climate and Environment Conference, taking place on 7 October 2026 during the POLECO trade fair at the Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie.
Now in its fifth edition, the conference will focus on how cities can prepare for a changing climate, with this year's theme, “Climate in action: a city ready for change”.
From extreme weather to practical solutions
For cities across Poland, climate adaptation is increasingly becoming a practical issue rather than a distant policy discussion. Hot weather, strong winds, intense rainfall and prolonged periods of drought all create challenges for urban infrastructure, public spaces and local communities.
The Poznań conference will look at some of the ways municipalities can respond, covering both adaptation measures and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The programme includes presentations on “Resilient to Climate - adaptation in action”, “Climate Neutral - mitigation in action” and “Legal frameworks supporting climate action”.
There will also be a discussion panel entitled “Cooperation for climate and quality of life in cities: Cities and regions in action”, bringing together different perspectives on how local and regional authorities can work with experts and other institutions.
A Poznań event with a wider audience
The Climate and Environment Conference has been held in Poznań since 2021. This year's edition is aimed at residents of Poznań and the wider region, as well as local government officials and anyone interested in climate policy and environmental protection.
The hybrid format also makes it possible to take part without travelling to the city centre. For those attending in person, the conference forms part of the wider POLECO programme at the Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie.
The event is intended to create space for exchanging practical examples and bringing together representatives of administration, academia and organisations working on climate transformation.
For international residents and visitors, it is worth noting that the programme and presentations are likely to be held in Polish, so some knowledge of the language may be useful for those planning to attend.
The 2026 conference takes place on Wednesday, 7 October, at the Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie.
