Trening bez Barier 2026 Invites Poznań Residents to Challenge Their Perspectives

Discover Trening bez Barier 2026 in Poznań, a free inclusive event featuring wheelchair sports, sign language workshops and interactive activities that challenge perceptions of disability.

This July, Poznań residents are invited to take part in one of the city’s most inspiring community events as Trening bez Barier 2026 (Training Without Barriers) returns for its fifth edition. Taking place on Wednesday 16 July at Klub Na Fali, the free event encourages participants to move beyond simply observing disability and instead experience first-hand the challenges and achievements that many people encounter every day.

Rather than focusing solely on demonstrations, organisers want visitors to become active participants. Through a series of inclusive workshops, adaptive sports sessions and practical experiences, attendees will discover that many of the barriers faced by people with disabilities are social rather than physical, while gaining a greater understanding of accessibility, inclusion and community.

Learning Through Experience

The philosophy behind Trening bez Barier is simple but powerful. By stepping into another person’s perspective, participants can better appreciate the importance of designing communities that are welcoming and accessible to everyone.

The afternoon begins with an interactive Experience Zone, where visitors are encouraged to try activities that simulate different physical conditions. Participants can wear an ageing suit to experience some of the physical limitations associated with later life, navigate an obstacle course using a wheelchair, or attempt everyday tasks without relying on sight or hearing.

These practical sessions will be led by trainers and volunteers from Fundacja CREO, whose work focuses on volunteering, civic engagement and inclusive community initiatives.

Rather than being a test of physical ability, the activities are designed to spark conversations, increase empathy and encourage greater awareness of the everyday experiences of people with disabilities.

Inclusive Sport Takes Centre Stage

One of the highlights of the event is a series of inclusive sporting sessions led by experienced athletes and organisations from across Poznań and the Wielkopolska region.

The programme opens with an Inclusive Wheelchair Dance session featuring Gang Marleny, the wheelchair dance group from Fundacja Aktywnej Rehabilitacji (FAR) Wielkopolska. Following their performance, everyone is invited to join in and experience wheelchair dance for themselves under the guidance of FAR trainers.

Visitors can then take part in an inclusive Wheelchair Basketball session led by players from IKS 2017 Poznań, one of the city’s leading wheelchair basketball clubs. Participants will have the opportunity to sit in specialist sports wheelchairs and discover the speed, skill and teamwork required in one of the world’s fastest-growing adaptive sports.

The sporting programme continues with Wheelchair Boxing, delivered by athletes from Fundacja Balian Sport. The session introduces participants to the basic techniques of adaptive boxing while showcasing the abilities and determination of experienced competitors.

Together, these activities highlight that sport can be accessible, competitive and enjoyable for everyone regardless of physical ability.

Discover the Basics of Polish Sign Language

The final workshop of the evening offers visitors the opportunity to learn the foundations of Polish Sign Language (PJM).

Led by a CREO trainer, the introductory session will teach participants basic phrases and signs while encouraging communication through visual language. For many visitors, it may be their first opportunity to engage directly with sign language and gain a better understanding of Deaf culture in Poland.

More Than Sport

Throughout the event, visitors can also explore additional information stands and accessibility demonstrations.

RehaSense will showcase wheelchair attachment systems and mobility equipment, while the Poznań Volunteer Centre will introduce attendees to organisations supporting volunteering opportunities throughout the city.

These complementary activities reinforce the wider purpose of Trening bez Barier by encouraging continued community engagement long after the event has finished.

The organisers recommend travelling by public transport, with the AWF tram and bus stop located approximately 400 metres from the venue. Limited city parking is also available nearby on Droga Dębińska.

By encouraging residents to experience different perspectives, the event helps break down stereotypes surrounding disability while promoting empathy, accessibility and active citizenship.

It also highlights the strength of Poznań’s voluntary sector, bringing together charities, sports clubs and community organisations that work year-round to create a more inclusive city.

Whether visitors come to try wheelchair basketball, learn sign language, experience accessibility challenges or simply support the organisations involved, the event offers a welcoming opportunity to engage with an important social issue in a positive and practical way.
