Enea and Poznań University of Technology (Politechnika Poznańska) have signed a new partnership that will bring the energy company and one of Poznań's leading technical universities closer together on research, technology development and professional skills.
The agreement, signed at the university in Poznań, establishes a framework for joint research projects, educational initiatives, technology development and projects aimed at putting new solutions into practical use.
For the city, the partnership brings together two organisations already active in areas that are becoming increasingly important to Poznań and the wider Wielkopolska region: engineering, digital technologies, energy infrastructure and the development of highly skilled graduates.
Enea vice-president for corporate affairs Eryk Kosiński said the energy transition requires investment not only in infrastructure but also in knowledge and skills.

Quantum computing already provides a link between the two organisations
One of the most distinctive elements of the partnership is its focus on quantum technologies.
Enea is supporting the operation of the quantum computer installed at Poznań University of Technology, including the cost of its power supply. The two organisations are also examining how quantum computing could eventually be applied to challenges facing the energy sector.
Poznań University of Technology launched its locally installed IQM quantum computer in May 2026, with research and education among its principal aims. The university has also introduced a dedicated undergraduate programme in quantum technologies, reflecting the growing emphasis on developing expertise in the field.
Potential applications discussed by Enea and the university include optimising electricity networks, integrating renewable energy sources, analysing large datasets and forecasting energy demand. Cybersecurity is another area where quantum technologies could become increasingly relevant.
Sebastian Gajecki, vice-president of the Enea Centrum management board for IT, said the immediate priority is to understand where the technology could prove useful rather than to assume its applications in advance.
We see quantum technologies as a forward-looking area for research and skills development. Together with Poznań University of Technology, we want to assess reliably the areas in which they can support the energy sector, data analysis and cybersecurity. Today, the most important thing for us is building knowledge and preparing the organisation for the next generations of digital technologies.
Enea's support for the university's quantum infrastructure follows its announcement in May that it would provide the energy infrastructure needed for the operation and development of the technology.
From research laboratories to practical applications
The new agreement is intended to go beyond individual research projects.
Enea and Poznań University of Technology plan to work together on education, research and initiatives promoting science and modern technology. The partnership is also expected to provide opportunities to test technologies before they are potentially introduced into real-world energy applications.
For students, closer links with a major energy company can provide another route into practical projects and industry experience. For Enea, cooperation with researchers and future engineers offers access to specialist knowledge and a pool of emerging talent.
The first major public event connected with the partnership will be the Noc Naukowców (Researchers' Night) at Poznań University of Technology on 25 September. The event will be open to people interested in science, knowledge and technology.
A wider network for Poznań and Wielkopolska
The agreement also fits into a broader effort to connect universities, businesses and public institutions around the energy and climate transition.
Poznań University of Technology is a member of the Klaster Zielonej Transformacji (Green Transformation Cluster), an initiative bringing together companies, universities, research institutes, local authorities and business-support organisations.
Enea's participation in the cluster creates another potential route for joint research, education and implementation projects, extending the relationship beyond the two organisations that signed today's agreement.
For Poznań, that wider network is particularly relevant. The city already has a strong concentration of universities, engineering expertise, technology companies and research institutions. Connecting those resources with one of Poland's major energy groups could create opportunities for projects that move from university research towards commercial and industrial use.
The partnership will develop over the coming months, with Enea and Poznań University of Technology expected to announce further initiatives and projects as they are established.
