Poznań residents will have 158 projects to choose from when voting opens for the 2027 Poznań Civic Budget. Voting will take place from 5 to 30 October, with PLN 33.5 million available for projects across the city.
The final list was confirmed after project numbers were drawn on Friday, 25 September. The numbers will be used by residents when casting their votes, while applicants can now download promotional posters and graphics from the PBO website.
158 projects on this year's ballot
A total of 242 proposals were submitted for PBO27. After the assessment process, 158 projects qualified for the public vote.
The ballot includes 32 citywide projects and 126 neighbourhood projects. Among the citywide proposals are 11 large projects, 16 small projects and five projects submitted under the Green Budget. The neighbourhood category contains 74 large and 52 small projects.
The range of ideas reflects some of the recurring priorities raised by Poznań residents. Proposals include new playgrounds and sports facilities, cycling infrastructure, improvements linked to safety and new green spaces. There are also projects focused on culture and leisure, including outdoor cinema screenings, concerts, workshops and sports activities.
More funds for projects across Poznań
There is more funding available in PBO27 than in the previous edition, with the total budget rising to PLN 33.5 million, an increase of more than PLN 2 million.
The additional funding is particularly noticeable in the citywide part of the budget. The Green Budget has also been increased from PLN 4 million to PLN 6 million, while the maximum amount available for a large citywide project has risen from PLN 2 million to PLN 3 million.
For residents, that means some of the larger ideas on this year's ballot can seek a bigger share of the PBO budget, while projects focused on greenery have a larger dedicated pool of funding.
When and how to vote
Voting will be carried out online through the official Poznań Civic Budget website. Residents without access to a computer and internet connection will also be able to vote at dedicated PBO voting points.
Each resident can cast up to five votes. Three can go to citywide projects, with one vote each for a small project, a large project and a large Green Budget project. Two further votes can be used for neighbourhood projects, one small and one large.
The voting system will use SMS verification. Voters will provide their mobile phone number, along with their name, address and the final four digits of their PESEL number. Residents without a PESEL number can provide the final four digits or letters from another identity document.
The city has also introduced a clearer rule for duplicate submissions. If someone submits more than one vote, the first registered vote will be treated as valid unless the resident asks for it to be removed.
Voting opens on 5 October and closes at 12:00 on 30 October. The results are expected to be announced by 30 November.
14 years of the Poznań Civic Budget
PBO has now been part of Poznań's civic life for 14 years. According to the city, 371 projects have been completed through the programme so far, with another 101 currently being implemented.
Previous editions have contributed to new recreational spaces, green areas and a variety of cultural and community activities around Poznań. For residents, the October vote is an opportunity to decide which of the latest proposals will join that list.
