Poznań's tram network will see another change on Saturday, 3 October, as services return to the section of Roosevelta between Rondo Kaponiera and Most Teatralny, as well as across Most św. Rocha.
The improvement comes alongside another piece of work. From the same day, replacement of points and switches will begin at the Most Teatralny junction on the Fredry Street side, meaning trams will still be unable to travel from Most Teatralny towards the city centre.
According to Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego (ZTM), the works at Most Teatralny are scheduled to continue until 30 October.
Kaponiera and Most św. Rocha reopen to trams
Work on the tracks along Roosevelta between Rondo Kaponiera and Most Teatralny is due to finish on Friday, 2 October. The works have included track-related repairs, replacement of platform kerbs and switches, as well as additional work to telecommunications infrastructure and the cycle route.
This means tram services will return to the section from Kaponiera towards Most Teatralny from Saturday.
The following tram lines will use the reopened Roosevelta section: 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 15, 18, 19.
Trams will also return to Most św. Rocha, with lines: 3, 5, 8, 13, 16.
The reopening follows emergency works on ul. Dowbora-Muśnickiego, where a damaged track slab had required the route through Most św. Rocha to be closed. ZTM says those works are also expected to finish by 2 October.
Most Teatralny changes again
The reopening around Kaponiera does not mean a complete return to normality.
From 3 October, work will move to the part of the Most Teatralny junction serving ul. Fredry. New track switches will be installed there.
For passengers, the important point is that trams will still be able to travel:
northwards from Kaponiera towards Winogrady and Piątkowo;
towards Jeżyce and ul. Dąbrowskiego.
However, they will not be able to travel from Most Teatralny towards the city centre, in the direction of the junction of Fredry, Mielżyńskiego and Gwarna.
This affects several central tram routes, with lines 4, 8, 9, 16 and 19 using alternative routes.
What is changing on the tram network?
For everyday passengers, the changes are a mixture of restored routes and temporary diversions.
Line 2
Line 2 returns to its regular route via Strzelecka, Królowej Jadwigi and Górna Wilda, connecting Ogrody with Dębiec PKM.
Line 3
Line 3 returns via Rondo Kaponiera and Most św. Rocha, although its central routing changes. It will run through Św. Marcin, Aleje Marcinkowskiego, Podgórna and Mostowa before continuing towards the Kórnicka route and Unii Lubelskiej.
Line 4
Line 4 will use an alternative route via Kaponiera, Św. Marcin and Gwarna before continuing towards Małe Garbary.
Line 5
Line 5 returns to its regular route between Górczyn PKM and Zawady, once again crossing Most św. Rocha.
Line 8
Line 8 will run via Kraszewskiego, Zwierzyniecka and Kaponiera, then through Św. Marcin, Aleje Marcinkowskiego and Mostowa before crossing Most św. Rocha on its way towards Miłostowo.
Line 9
Line 9 will use Kaponiera and Św. Marcin in the direction of Dębiec. In the opposite direction, it will travel through Gwarna, Św. Marcin and Kaponiera towards Piątkowska.
Line 10
Line 10 returns to a route through Kaponiera, Most Dworcowy and Matyi, connecting Błażeja with Dębiec PKM.
Line 11
Line 11 returns to its route along Roosevelta and Kaponiera, continuing towards Unii Lubelskiej.
Line 13
Line 13 returns to its regular route via Most św. Rocha, linking Junikowo with Starołęka PKM.
Line 15
Line 15 returns to its regular routing via Roosevelta and Kaponiera, between Os. Sobieskiego and Junikowo.
Line 16
Line 16 will continue to use a diversion through the lower PST section and Dworzec Zachodni PST, Głogowska, Most Dworcowy and Towarowa, before reaching the city centre and then crossing Most św. Rocha towards Franowo.
Line 17
Line 17 keeps its existing route and returns to its standard frequency, running between Górczyn PKM and Małe Garbary.
Line 18
Line 18 returns to a route through Roosevelta, Kaponiera, Most Dworcowy and Matyi, continuing towards Franowo.
Line 19
Line 19 will use Roosevelta and Kaponiera, then continue through Św. Marcin, Aleje Marcinkowskiego, Strzelecka and Górna Wilda towards Dębiec PKM.
Night services
There are also several changes to night transport.
Night tram 201 returns to a route across Most św. Rocha. On Friday and Saturday nights, between 23:00 and 02:00, it will run every 15 minutes.
Night line 202 will be suspended.
Night bus lines 212 and 222, 213 and 223, 214 and 215 will use diversions via ul. Libelta.
Bus routes 174 and 190 return to their regular routes
Bus passengers will also see a change from 3 October.
Lines 174 and 190 return to their regular routes, meaning they will no longer run via Most św. Rocha.
Line 174 will once again connect Os. Sobieskiego with Unii Lubelskiej, while line 190 will run between Os. Sobieskiego and AWF.
For passengers who have been using these buses because of the temporary closure of the tram route through Most św. Rocha, it is therefore worth checking the route before travelling.
A changing tram network in central Poznań
3 October brings a slightly unusual combination of changes: one important tram route reopens while another part of the central network moves into a new phase of works.
The return of trams to Kaponiera, Roosevelta and Most św. Rocha restores several familiar connections across the centre and between the northern and eastern parts of Poznań.
At the same time, passengers travelling through Most Teatralny towards Fredry and the central streets will need to allow for the temporary diversions.
The current ZTM timetable for these arrangements covers 3 to 30 October 2026, after which further changes will depend on the progress of the works.
