Jeżyce will be busy this Saturday as Dzień Jeżyc (Jeżyce Day) returns for another day of concerts, creative workshops, theatre, local food and dancing.
Taking place on Saturday, 12 September, the neighbourhood festival will run from 12:00 to 22:00, with the main activities centred on ul. Słowackiego and the courtyard of Szkoła Podstawowa nr 36. Admission is free.
The event is built around the idea of a neighbourhood shared by different generations, with activities planned for children, teenagers, adults and older residents. It is also a chance to discover some of the independent businesses, makers and artists who give Jeżyce much of its character.
Słowackiego becomes a neighbourhood meeting place
The stretch of ul. Słowackiego between ul. Kraszewskiego and ul. Wawrzyniaka will host stalls from local businesses, food vendors and craft makers.
Visitors can also get hands-on, with workshops covering activities including ceramics, embroidery, badge-making and creating bookmarks.
For younger visitors, there will be circus skills workshops as well as traditional outdoor games and activities.
Start the day with Jeżyce on foot
The festival programme begins before the main celebrations get underway.
At 10:30, a guided walk following the Poznań Jeżycjada® Trail will set off from the Adam Mickiewicz Monument. Led by a licensed guide, the walk will finish at the mural at ul. Słowackiego 6.
Theatre, literature and live music
Families will be able to watch the shadow theatre performance “Lisica i żuraw”, followed by an art workshop for children.
Music will take centre stage later in the day, with performances from Czereśnie and Czemoo. Literary group Projekt Fifna will also present its work.
As evening arrives, Zuzanna Babiak & Band will provide the soundtrack for a retro and swing dance, giving visitors the chance to put some dancing into their Saturday plans.
The festival will close with a concert by Izzy and the Black Trees.
For residents, it is a chance to spend a Saturday exploring their own neighbourhood, while visitors have an easy introduction to one of Poznań's best-known districts through its businesses, artists, streets and community spaces.
