The Culture Express (Pociąg do Kultury) isn’t just a train—it’s a travelling festival. Imagine boarding and finding yourself in the middle of a live concert, a literary discussion, or a hands-on art workshop. If that sounds like something out of a dream, get ready for an extraordinary journey. From February 11th to 16th, 2025, the Culture Express will roll between Berlin, Poznań, and Warsaw, turning a routine trip into a moving cultural experience.
A Train Like No Other
Inspired by the success of the Berlin-Wrocław Culture Express, which has been delighting passengers since 2016, this new route expands the idea of a mobile cultural bridge. Over six days, one special artistic carriage will be attached to the EC Berlin-Poznań-Warszawa Express, creating an onboard festival on wheels.
Passengers won’t just sit and stare out the window – they’ll get to enjoy concerts, literary meetings, theatrical performances, language animations, and creative workshops, all for free. The aim? To bring together travellers, artists, and city residents, proving that trains are more than just a mode of transport – they can be a space for cultural exchange.
We want to show that culture can exist anywhere—even in motion. The Culture Express is more than just an event; it’s a symbol of connection between cities, artists, and audiences. Poznań is proud to be at the heart of this journey.
says Mariusz Wiśniewski, Deputy Mayor of Poznań.
What’s Happening on Board?
Each day of the journey will bring something new, thanks to Poznań’s leading cultural institutions and creative minds from Berlin and Warsaw. Here’s a glimpse at what’s in store:
Music and Performance
- February 11–12: Grzegorz Wierus, a conductor from the Grand Theatre of Poznań, will lead a vocal workshop called “Everyone Has a Voice”. Whether you’re a trained singer or just love to hum along, this is your chance to experiment with sound.
- February 13–14: Get ready for a musical theatre extravaganza. Artists from the Poznań Musical Theatre will perform and share insights into the magic of musicals.
- February 15–16: Experience a live music session with musicians from Jeżyckie Centrum Kultury – perfect for those who love a spontaneous jam session.
Literature and Storytelling
- Chat with authors, flip through free cultural magazines, and discover Poland’s rich literary scene. The Municipal Publishing House of Poznań will ensure that reading material is always within arm’s reach.
A Taste of Poznań’s Traditions
- Food lovers, this one’s for you. Representatives from the Rogalowe Muzeum Poznania will take you on a flavourful journey through the history of St. Martin’s croissants, one of Poznań’s most iconic treats.
Language and Interaction
- Language animations and interactive discussions will create opportunities for passengers from different countries to connect and celebrate linguistic diversity.
The idea isn’t just to watch cultural performances, but to be part of them. Whether you’re singing along, sketching a portrait, or tasting a croissant, this journey is about participation.

Why It Matters
Beyond the sheer fun of it, the Culture Express is about something bigger. It highlights the importance of sustainable travel, proving that trains can be more than just an efficient way to move between cities—they can also be platforms for cultural exchange. By making art and performance an integral part of the journey, this project encourages passengers to engage with creativity in a way that is accessible and natural. It also strengthens the ties between Berlin, Poznań, and Warsaw, fostering new connections between artists, institutions, and travellers. Cultural tourism is an increasingly vital aspect of the travel industry, and the Culture Express is a perfect example of how cities can collaborate to create something meaningful, immersive, and unique.
We want this train to be more than just transport. It’s a cultural bridge between Berlin, Poznań, and Warsaw.
summed it up Director of Kulturprojekte Berlin, Moritz van Dülmen.
