This June, Poznań becomes the epicentre of fantasy, science fiction, and pop culture as Pyrkon 2025 (13–15 June 2025) celebrates its 25th anniversary. From humble beginnings in a local school to becoming one of Europe’s largest fan conventions, Pyrkon has evolved into a three-day extravaganza that unites fans, creators, and dreamers. Whether you’re a seasoned cosplayer, a tabletop gaming enthusiast, or simply curious about the fantastical, Pyrkon 2025 promises an unforgettable experience.
From School Hall to European Giant
Pyrkon’s roots stretch back to 2000, when a handful of enthusiasts gathered in a primary school in Poznań’s Naramowice district. What began as a niche convention for fantasy fans has grown into a massive, three-day spectacle spanning over 150,000 square metres and drawing tens of thousands of attendees each year. The evolution of Pyrkon mirrors the growth of pop culture fandom in Poland – passionate, creative, and inclusive.
We wanted to create something lasting and visible. A reminder that Pyrkon belongs to this city.
said Magdalena Walczak, Pyrkon’s deputy marketing director.
To mark this silver jubilee, organisers commissioned a commemorative mural on one of the MTP buildings. The vibrant 11-by-21-metre artwork, visible from Bukowska Street, celebrates the fantastical spirit of Pyrkon. Designed by Oliwia Kruszka and realised by Poznań’s own Mur-ALL studio, it’s more than a tribute – it’s an invitation into the festival’s magical universe.
What Awaits in 2025?
This year, Pyrkon 2025 (13–15 June 2025) promises its most ambitious edition yet. From the moment you step onto the fairgrounds, you’re immersed in a parallel world brimming with creativity and community. Whether you’re into literature, gaming, cosplay, film, or just the magic of shared storytelling, there’s something here for you.
One of the biggest draws? The guest list. Pyrkon 2025 boasts an impressive roster of guests from various realms of fantasy and pop culture:
- Bonnie Wright: Best known for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter series.
- Denis Lawson: Portrayed Wedge Antilles in the original Star Wars trilogy.
- Mark Sheppard: Recognised for his roles in Supernatural and Battlestar Galactica.
- Kevin J. Anderson: Prolific science fiction author, co-writer of the Dune prequels.
- Victoria Holmes: Co-creator of the bestselling Warriors book series.
These guests will participate in panels, signings, and Q&A sessions throughout the festival. The festival features over 2,200 programme points, curated by 945 speakers and 279 invited guests from around the globe. Pyrkon is once again proving its place among Europe’s elite fan conventions.
The Experience: Cosplay, Panels, Concerts and More
A key feature of Pyrkon 2025 is its staggering diversity of attractions. The festival hosts everything from academic panels on narrative theory to workshops on sword-making and cosplay prosthetics. Want to know how to write your first fantasy novel? There’s a panel for that. Curious about medieval combat? You can try it. There’s even a full Strefa Naukowa (Science Station) linking real-world science with speculative fiction, winner of the Popularyzator Nauki award.

Gaming? Covered. The Games Room, open 24/7, lets you borrow from hundreds of board games or join tabletop RPGs run by expert Dungeon Masters. The Gaming Zone is a paradise for fans of PC, console, and retro gaming alike, while the outdoor cosplay villages let you step inside fully themed worlds for immersive photo ops.
But that’s not all – music is now central to Pyrkon’s identity. With over 30 concerts scheduled across three stages – including the new Water and Fire stages – fans can enjoy everything from fantasy-inspired folk to Japanese J-pop and Korean rock. Don’t miss the special concert “Wiedźmin: Muzyka Kontynentu”, commemorating the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
