Whether you are an experienced runner chasing a personal milestone, someone looking to improve your fitness, or simply keen to enjoy a morning walk with others, Parkrun Poznań offers one of the city’s most welcoming weekly community events.
Taking place every Saturday at 9:00 am throughout the year, Parkrun brings together people of all ages and abilities for a relaxed, timed 5-kilometre event. There is no pressure to compete, no entry fee and no expectation to run. Participants are equally welcome to jog, walk or volunteer.
On Saturday, 11 July, two Poznań locations will once again host their weekly events:
- Lasek Marceliński
- Las Dębiński
This week’s Park Cytadela run has been cancelled due to the Męskie Granie 2026 concert, which will take place in the park.
More Than Just a Run
Parkrun began in the United Kingdom and has grown into a global movement, with events taking place every weekend across dozens of countries. In Poland, the initiative has been running since 2011 and continues to encourage healthier, more active communities.
The philosophy is simple. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, experience or fitness level. There are no winners or losers, only participants enjoying exercise together in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Free to Join
Participation is completely free.
First-time participants simply need to register once through the Parkrun system before attending their first event. After registering, each participant receives a unique barcode, which must be brought to every event either as a printed copy or in electronic form.
Without the barcode, organisers cannot record a finishing time.
Once registered, participants can join any Parkrun event across Poland or anywhere else in the world without registering again.

The Park Cytadela Course
One of Poznań’s best-loved Parkrun venues is Park Cytadela, where runners and walkers complete a scenic single 5-kilometre loop.
The course follows mostly asphalt park paths with a short 300-metre gravel section. Gentle climbs, descents and winding paths make the route enjoyable while remaining accessible for participants of all abilities.
The meeting point, along with the start and finish area, is located near the benches between the Heroes of the Citadel Monument and the Bell of Peace.
As the park remains open to the public throughout the event, participants are asked to be considerate of pedestrians, cyclists and other visitors.
A Place for Everyone
One of the defining features of Parkrun is its inclusive approach.
There is no time limit, meaning that participants can complete the course at whatever pace feels comfortable to them. A volunteer always finishes last, ensuring nobody ever comes last in the event.
Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult or another participant nominated by their parent or guardian.
Participants are also welcome to take part in the run with dogs, provided they remain on a short lead and under control throughout the event.

Volunteers Make It Happen
Every Parkrun event is organised entirely by volunteers from the local community. From timekeepers and barcode scanners to marshals positioned around the course, volunteers ensure every event runs safely and smoothly.
More details about volunteering at the events can be found on the official Parkrun Poznan website. Anyone interested in helping can contact the Poznań organising team via poznan@parkrun.com.
Volunteering is an excellent way to support the local community while becoming part of one of Poznań’s friendliest weekend traditions.
Safety Comes First
Organisers encourage participants to ensure they are medically fit to complete the 5-kilometre distance and to remain aware of their surroundings throughout the event.
As the course passes through public parks, runners and walkers should expect to encounter other visitors, cyclists and occasionally uneven or muddy surfaces depending on weather conditions.
Parkrun also encourages environmentally friendly travel by walking, cycling or using public transport wherever possible.
Facilities
Participants at Park Cytadela can take advantage of a range of nearby facilities, including:
- Public toilets
- Children’s playgrounds
- Outdoor gyms
- Restaurants
- Mobile cafés
- Paid and free parking nearby
Following the event, many participants continue the social aspect of Parkrun by meeting at Herbaciarnia Niebiańska, approximately 500 metres from the finish area.
